about

ENG

Pauk returns to Discontinu Records with Melancholic Anger.

Pauk has always tried to reflect personal experiences in his music, researching new ways of creation, experimenting with analog and digital hardware and software, and always communicating through his already known Monome so that his works come alive on stage.

A statement of intents in his sound, where strength and emotion go hand in hand like life itself, a language of emotional melodies and super-edited twisted rhythms crushed with his digital blades.

His new work "Melancholic Anger" offers 8 cuts, with the opening "Bird Bones" where the beauty of a simple piano is crushed by beats that blend perfectly. "Dark Grid", as its name suggests, is an obscure grid of layers upon layers of melodic sequences that overlap to its hardness. He gives way to "Tusk" swatting your head to the drum beats with the transformation of operatic voices, creating an epic theme. "Helianthus" recalls the sound of the oldschool, classic breaks that go haywire with acid bass lines.

It's time for "Tenshi", angel in Japanese, it is undoubtedly the most emotional cut because of the inspiration by the memory of his grandmother. It creates an atmosphere hidden in complex sonorities and small details that you are caught in a process that is rising as the hypnotic rhythm progresses, and ends in a touching piano ode. "Kaizen" explores the broken beats, in the micro-editing, and winks to 8 bits.

"A Significant Spot" is the perfect process from acoustic to digital sound, a kind of futuristic classic jazz mixed with high intensity IDM. The album closes with "Kintsugi" a passage of music box where the Melancholic Anger trip ends, an album with feeling and longing.
